Water Dragons

They have left some droppings
like soft mud on the rim of the pool.
There is no foul smell, no smell at all.
In the gravel patch at one corner
they dig holes to lay their eggs.
My friend has seen them swimming
when the pool is empty of people,
their armour flashing blue-green.

  1. Damsel and Dragonflies? That is what I am reminded of. I'll have to wait for spring. :)

  2. Turtles? A stone that invites speculation.

  3. I didn't realise these were unknown elsewhere. They are big lizards. I'll try to find a picture.

  4. Lizards! Ah, that explains it. But even without fully understanding I love this piece.
