Wet

It’s been raining all night.
This morning it’s still raining,
coming down steady
in straight lines like a curtain.

Gutters and pipes drip.
Sounds of big drops hitting the ground
and pooling. Background sound
of constant falling: a sustained sigh.

  3. You have captured what it is to awaken to the sound of rain in a dry land.

Rain may seem like an inconvenience but worth the blessings that it brings

  5. Waking uo, "Is it still raining!" I like this, "Sounds of big drops hitting the ground and poooling," because they promise still more as their size decreases.

  7. Yes, Rosemary - this is feel in my bones as the rainstorms bang against my window (though, I believe, your rain in this poem is calmer...). Living where I do, there is almost always rain, and it is endlessly inspiring. At times it pours down straight as the curtain you write about, at other times scattered like bits of sand, pebbles -- I love that you give it sounds of sustained sighs, that seems very much like choral music to me. ;) Thanks for sharing.
