Greeting in the Supermarket

We say hello and I go to move on.
Her “How ARE you?” stops me.
Her eyes widen and become intent.
She really wants to know.

She recalls things I’ve told her,
asks about them and about now.
I feel cared for. I realise
we go back a long way.

  1. So nice to have a meaningful connection and to actually be seen and heard. I'm always happy and amazed when a chance meeting ends this way.

    1. It was quite profound for me, reminding me that this little town I came to 20 years ago has indeed become home.
