Sodden

Bleak, bedraggled,
my garden misses me.
Ceaseless rain
strands me indoors.

  1. perhaps the rain though gives it nourishment until you can get there...if it does not wash it out....though i guess it feeds the weeds as well...smiles.

    1. Yes, it's that kind of day. The only problem is, it's one of a whole chain of such days. :(

  5. Rosemary, you've summed up the weather here in Sth East Queensland perfectly and my garden is the same, and the little dog is as miserable as the weather...no walk for days. Can only hope we get that usual nice autumn weather soon. :)

  6. ...ah...i feel you as mum would often be like that... too worried & bothered about her garden when it rains outside... she would often look through a window just so she knew how her garden was doing... smiles... i enjoyed your verse..

    1. I am no gardener, though. I just like to sit in it and enjoy. It's a case of transference: really it is I who miss being in my garden.

  8. Beautiful-- the forlorn, soggy quietude of a rainy afternoon. Loved the word choice of 'stranded,' suggesting, without stating it explicitly, that your home has become the only bit of dry land in a sea of endless, drowning rain. It makes the reader feel or the more sorry for the poor plants in the garden, trying to tread water in all the downpour.

Hope the sun finds you soon! :)

  9. yeah the rain does keep us inside, at least it does for me, can't stand rain. in fact, I often feel like the wicked witch, even joking that I'll melt lol The garden will miss you, as my dad, who's a big gardener, makes comments like that a lot, but the rain probably helps out the plants, as long as it's not for an extended timeframe. nicely done. Thanks for sharing with us.

    1. You're welcome. It has been for an extended time frame, but we live in hopes. Some of the plants do appear to have had a growth spurt.

  11. Perfect picture. Not a gardener (or least inclined that way), you nonetheless took me to a place of envy of such love. Good morning !

    1. Would be only too delighted — and even to some other parts of Australia, which have been suffering fires and drought.
